Just finished this painting and it is drying now ready for delivery. Some folks came by to pick up a painting they had purchased from my blog and saw this almost completed on my easel and purchased it. How perfect is that! Busy now with other large paintings, so not many small paintings going up on the blog. Have a one woman show in September and a group show coming, plus promised pieces to my gallery. In addition my sister just left after a wonderful visit and work has begun on a room remodel that sits just across a very small yard from my studio. Very noisy now, and hard to get to my painting space. However, I feel very fortunate and thank God every day for my blessings.
My donation piece to The Friends of Carrizo sold for a handsome price on eBay. Thanks to all of you who support them and my projects.

Carrizo Plain is a one of th Nation's newest National Monuments. The wildflowers in the spring are glorious, but it is also home to many endangered species. The scene in this painting is on the road over the Tremblor Mountains. You can actually see the San Andreas fault running through the West side of them. And - Antelope actually still play here. Gorgeous day at the Lighthouse! Our painting group, SLOPE will be doing a fund raiser for the Lighthouse,and this was our first day painting. Arrived about noon and by 1 pm the wind was blowing about 20 knots. Blew the paint right off my palette knife onto a passerby who happened to be my husband. Landed on his camera bag and spread to the entire right side of his pants. Yikes!- he was a walking permanent green. You can see the wind billowing up my blouse. Had trouble keeping the palette knife steady as I approached the canvas.

Montana de Oro is a California State Park. It's name means 'mountain of gold', and was so named by the early Spanish explorers because in the springtime its hills (which roll down to the Pacific Ocean, are covered with wild mustard plants, as in this painting, and sometimes California Poppies. When I did this painting, I was waist deep in wild mustard. Beautiful!

Hale Gallery in Los Olivos. 11x14" framed oil ($1,000.)
It's rendered entirely with the palette knife.

My daily blog painting has fallen far behind with a lot of outside things. I still paint everyday, but have not been able to get to my 'daily blog paintings'. I will resume soon.

This beautiful Iris pond bordered by California Poppies was too hard to resist. I finished the painting quickly - about 45 minutes because it's in a commercial nursery. I painted this about 2 years ago at the Iris Farm in Santa Margarita, again along the El Camino Real.

Mission San Miguel Archangel is just north of Paso Robles. The devasting earthquake a few years ago caused major damage. It's a beautiful mission steeped in Central Coast history.

"Shelby" our Alaskan Malamute mix running full out at the beach....racing to meet what ever life has to offer and 'full of joy'.(100% of this purchase price will be donated to Woods Humane Society from whence we adopted Shelby 5 years ago. She had been in and out of Woods so many times in her first 5 years of life that they had trained her to be a 'care giver' - traveling to hospitals and children's wards.)
