"Story Teller" ©

$400.
High Fired Clay
12" tall x 9"
Hollow Built
No Armature Used

Before computers, before television, before radios, before telephones, before newspapers, and before the written word, there were "Story Tellers". They were the source for all history and the tribes knowledge of previous happenings. I've chosen to use a Chumash Story Teller here to symbolize the ancient method of passing on history. The Chumash are the Native American People of the California Central Coast.
I built this using my "Hollow Built" method with high fire clay. No armature was used.

Fayrene-
I like this one. Did you use coils? Or the method Bela showed us?
Thanks,
Christine
P.S. I still can't ready other peoples' comments - is that something new?

I do not use coils or slabs. It's a method I learned from a South African woman about 15 years ago. I use this to build life size pieces without an armature. I'll be teaching this method in my class in Tuscany next year.
